Burstall Village Hall is an exceptional Tudor style building constructed just over 100 years ago, an endowment from Lillian Cranfield in memory of her husband who founded Cranfield Mills of Ipswich. As Burstall now has neither a pub nor a shop, the hall is the centre of village life and is the venue for a flourishing Carpet Bowls Club, the WI, and a monthly cheese and soup lunch, all of which welcome visitors.
The hall's most important role of the year is however, as the backdrop to Burstall's remarkable Annual Flower Show and Fete which began in 1954 and is now on its 63rd year. On the first Saturday every August, the hall and its meadow will bustle with activity:
- a marquee will be filled with flowers, vegetable and baking exhibits
- dog agility displays
- a classic car show
- jazz band
- traditional stalls and fun events for all the family
But for many the highlight of the day is to be found tucked away in the village hall - delicious homemade lunches and afternoon teas.
